K-Pop Hair Stylists Reveal Insider Tips On How To Achieve Idol-Like Rainbow Hair
If you’re a K-Pop fan, it’s likely that you’ve already seen images of idols rocking rainbow-colored hair. From EXO‘s Sehun…
…to Girls’ Generation‘s Hyoyeon, it’s easy to see why many people would want to try out such vibrant and happy colors!
In case you’re one of these people, you may be interested in the tips that professional K-Pop hairstylists Goya and Aeri gave on how to achieve the look.
Recently, they guested on an episode of AYO‘s “Comment Defenders,” where a netizen commented that dyeing your hair rainbow colors is only for idols. “Rainbow dyeing, the final boss of idol dyeing. It’s 100% for idols only.”
Aeri disagreed and revealed that she had tried it once in the past. What she did to make it more wearable was to use hair chalks and tint instead of going all out by dyeing it.
I did this color once, but I didn’t dye it. I used hair chalk and tint like many others.
— Aeri
Goya, on the other hand, recommended bleaching your hair beforehand to achieve optimal results. Rainbow colors are best seen when your hair is light.
There are a lot of good products. This is possible when your hair is bleached nicely. You can see it well when the hair color is bright, not dark.
— Goya
If ever case you’re still hesitant to try it, Aeri recommended going for prism dyeing first. “Prism dyeing is popular these days.”
Unlike with rainbow dyeing, you only need to color a portion of your hair.
But you don’t use red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, or violet dye to get the color. It’s hard to mix colors.
— Aeri
Unfortunately, the disadvantage to it is that it is difficult to achieve because you must have a light hand.
You need to have a very delicate touch. It’s the most difficult dyeing for idols.
