The Male Idol Who Debuted To Meet His Favorite Group—And Succeeded
Like many K-Pop idols who enter the industry, TXT‘s Taehyun was inspired to become a singer by SHINee and was a fanboy of BTS‘s Jungkook. After debuting, he became a successful fan by meeting Taemin and even becoming gym buddies with Jungkook. However, he’s not the only TXT member who became a successful fan.
Another member was lucky enough to meet the group that inspired him to become the idol he is today.
Although Soobin is finally besties with American singer Bebe Rexha, someone he’s admired for a long time, another artist also had a significant impact on him—so much so that he became an idol just to meet them.
As the TXT members reflected on their trainee days, Soobin was candid about the real reason he decided to become an idol. He admitted, “To be completely honest, I first started dreaming of becoming a singer just because I wanted to meet KARA.”
Since Soobin made his debut in 2019 and KARA’s last release as a group was in 2016, it didn’t seem likely he’d meet them. But fortune happened to be on his side.
After seven years, KARA reunited and made a comeback in 2022. Soobin attended their fan meeting, met the members backstage at an awards show, and personally delivered a letter to his bias Seungyeon.
If Soobin hadn’t discovered KARA and become a fan, he may have never debuted.
