K-Pop Idols Confirmed To Star In 19+ GL Drama

It will be released in early 2025.

An upcoming K-Drama has already caught attention for its cast and content.

While many think of K-dramas, most that appear are rated PG-13; however, recently, several series have taken on more mature and diverse topics.  Shows like The Glory and Hierarchy have depicted harsh revenge and school bullying, while others have drifted into sexually explicit territory like Hit The Spot.

A recently cast series is set to join others branching into unexpected topics.

Earlier this year, it was reported that a webtoon titled Friendly Competition (Friendly Rivalry) would be adapted into a K-Drama.

Friendly Competition tells the story of Yoo Jei, a wealthy student with a high IQ who befriends a new student, Woo Seul Gi.  Written by Song Chae Yoon, the webtoon shows how the friendship between the two girls develops into an obsession.

The webtoon includes topics like drug use and self-harm, meaning the series will likely carry a 19+ rating.

Girl’s Day’s Hyeri was recently confirmed to play Jei, while actress Chung Su Bin will star as Seul Gi. Also cast in the series are Oh Woo Ri as Choi Kyung and Kang Hye Won as Joo Yeri, friends of Jei with their own issues.

GOT7‘s Youngjae was also announced as part of the cast in a yet-to-be-shared role.
