Small K-Pop Boy Group Gaining Attention For “Dramatic And Orchestral” Comeback Song

“This deserves to be viral in KOREA. RIGHT. NOW.”

In a time where short, TikTok-friendly K-Pop songs have become the norm, it’s refreshing to see a K-Pop song released that doesn’t follow the trends. And recently, a lesser-known third generation boy group has comeback with just such a song, and it’s picking up traction on some social media platforms.

The boy group in question is ONF, with their newly-released song “BYE MY MONSTER” off of their Beautiful Shadow album, which came out on April 8.

It has been about seven months since their last comeback, Love Effect, in October 2023, which was their first comeback since all of the members completed their military service. And fans of the group seem to be delighted with this new release, which takes the artistic, dramatic, and orchestral K-Pop song aesthetic to a whole new level.

Many are finding it reminiscent of second and third generation K-Pop boy groups such as INFINITE and MBLAQ in the best way. The dark, dramatic concept paired with haunting vocals and an elegant choreography are trends not seen as often in K-Pop these days, which makes ONF’s release unique in a sea of short, repetitive, catchy tunes that seem to be made more for social media than actual listening.

The post on Reddit made about this song and music video has been flooded with positive and praising comments.
