3 New K-Pop Songs Just Leapt Onto The Billboard World Digital Song Sales Chart
If you’re not already familiar with the Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart, it’s a weekly chart that lists the top-performing international songs in the U.S. as of that week, based on sales. As K-Pop has become a much more popular genre in the United States in recent years and is arguably one of the most popular international genres in the country, there are usually several K-Pop songs on the list, and this week is no different!
For the week of January 30, 15 out of the 25 songs on the chart are K-Pop songs, with 3 of them just debuting for the first time!
The highest ranking new song on the chart this week is Epik High‘s newest single, “Rosario”, featuring CL and Zico. For its debut week, it’s ranked at #11! It’s the group’s 8th song to chart on this list, with their highest-ranking being “It’s Cold” (ft. Lee Hi) and “Born Hater” (ft. Beenzino, Verbal Jint, B.I, Mino, and Bobby), both of which peaked at #5 in 2012 and 2014 respectively.
The next new song to debut on this week’s list is “Night View” by MONSTA X off of their Fatal Love album. It’s spending its first week on the chart at #13. It’s not the group’s first time on the chart by a long shot, being their 21st song to rank, and their highest-charting song in the past was “From Zero”, which peaked at #1 last year.
Finally, the third and final new K-Pop song for the week is “No Diggity” by ONEUS, coming in at #18! They’re a still-young group, so it’s only their fourth song to rank on the chart so far, with “A Song Written Easily” being their highest-ranking at #11 last year.
As is pretty much always the case, BTS take up the majority of the other K-Pop songs on the World Digital Song Sales chart this week, with 7 of the 12 remaining going to them. “Life Goes On” is the top-ranking at #5, now on its 9th week on the list. “Euphoria”, now on its 49th week, comes right below it at #6, and “Filter” is at #8 for its 46th week on the chart.
“My Time” comes right after it, spending its 46th week at #9. Next at #15 is “Black Swan”, now on the chart for 16 weeks. “Mic Drop” (ft. Desiigner“) places right after at #16 for its (incredible) 132nd week, and finally “Boy With Luv” (ft. Halsey) spends its 70 week ranked at #22.
BLACKPINK has two songs on the chart this week: “How You Like That” at #7 for its 29th week on the chart, and “Kill This Love” at #21 for its 81st week.
(G)I-DLE‘s “HWAA” made the chart again this week for the second time, ranking at #10 after peaking at #8 for its debut last week. TWICE‘s “I Can’t Stop Me” has now been on the list for 13 weeks and ranks at #24, and finally, PSY‘s “Gangnam Style” re-entered the chart for its (amazing!) 351st week, ranked at at #25.
Congratulations to all the artists who charted!
