Late Actress Kim Soo Mi’s Final Days Were Full Of Financial Concerns, According To Family
On October 25, KST, legendary Korean actress Kim Soo Mi passed away at the age of 75. The singer’s son, Jung Myung Ho, the CEO of Napalkkot F&B, revealed to Yonhap that the cause of her death was hyperglycemic shock and her sugar levels had exceeded 500.
Jung Myung Ho also opened up about the financial stress his mother had been under in her final days. Kim Soo Mi had been deprived of her performance fees for the musical My Mother, where she had performed for 14 years. The production company got embroiled in multiple plagiarism controversies and had allegedly failed to pay her since last year. The singer was pursuing legal action against the company.
She hadn’t received a single penny for her appearance fee since last year and was preparing to file a lawsuit.

Kim Soo Mi was showing signs of declining health from earlier this year. In May, she temporarily halted her activities due to fatigue and was hospitalized. Despite the health concerns, Kim appeared on a home shopping broadcast in August, where she was seen having hand tremors and slurred speech. However, she dismissed the concerns in a telephonic interview.
Kim Soo Mi is survived by her husband, Jung Chang Gyu, daughter Jung Joo Ri, son Jung Myung Ho, and daughter-in-law, Seo Hyo Rim, who is also an actress.
