The True Reason Why LE SSERAFIM’s Kazuha Left Professional Ballet And Pursued K-Pop Instead
The moment LE SSERAFIM‘s Kazuha was introduced as the group’s newest member, she started generating a lot of buzz online. It didn’t take long before netizens learned that she was a professional ballet dancer with years of experience under her belt!
But how does such an accomplished dancer end up in K-Pop, a completely different industry? The “FEARLESS” singer talked all about it in an interview with Weverse Magazine.
When she was asked if auditioning for SOURCE MUSIC was a tough decision to make, she explained that she had already been having doubts about her future as a ballet dancer. She acknowledged that dancing was fun and that she had learned a lot from it, but she thought long and hard about whether it was truly her dream.
The more I did ballet, the more I wondered if it was what I wanted to focus my life exclusively on. The process of doing ballet itself was fun, of course, and I learned a lot, which was nice. At the same time, I couldn’t stop thinking, ‘Is this really my dream?‘

Not long after, she came to the realization that she wanted to express herself in a different way—through music genres like K-Pop. Once she came to the decision, she had only one more hurdle along the way. She wasn’t sure how to audition since she was living in a different country.
Luckily, companies started holding online auditions when the pandemic struck, and she grabbed the chance to change her life.
And then I started to feel like I wanted to express myself in different ways through K-pop performances and in other genres. But it isn’t easy to start something new, and I didn’t know how to get into the K-pop world since I was studying abroad, so I felt really frustrated. And at that time, all the K-pop auditions moved online because of COVID-19.

It was as if the stars aligned because she even had few ballet classes at the time, allowing her to decide with finality that being a K-Pop idol was her new dream. She sent in her audition video, and the rest is history!
I didn’t have many ballet classes at school at the time, and spending all that time at home filled me with thoughts and concerns. I thought that, while being a ballerina was an attractive option, what I do now would open up more opportunities for me to follow my dreams. I kept deliberating about it, but finally said, ‘Let’s just do it!‘ And I sent in my audition video.
