Lee Do Hyun Cast Opposite Song Hye Kyo In Her New K-Drama, “The Glory”
It was previously reported that Song Hye Kyo would be reuniting with famed writer, Kim Eun Sook, for a new drama. Kim Eun Sook previously worked on The Descendants of the Sun with Song Hye Kyo. She also famously wrote Goblin and The Heirs.
It looks like the drama might now have its male lead. While Song Hye Kyo had been the only cast member revealed previously, on October 13, 2021, an entertainment industry representative stated to Sports Chosun that the male lead would be Lee Do Hyun.
Lee Do Hyun has steadily made a name for himself, starring in Sweet Home, Youth of May and 18 Again. In particular, his acting in 18 Again was highly lauded for how he was able to convey the emotions of a middle-aged father despite being in his 20s himself. He will play a character that grew up in a sheltered environment akin to a greenhouse but vows to break out of his princely image to become a rebellious and sharp warrior.
The Glory is about a female lead who dreams of becoming an architect but drops out of high school after a bullying incident. Eventually, as the classmates grow up, the bully ringleader gets married and gives birth to a child. The female lead bids her time until this child goes on to elementary school, only to take up a new post as the child’s teacher. She then starts to take revenge against the bully and others who did not help in the past.
Lee Do Hyun’s company has yet to provide a statement to confirm the news.
