Lee Hyori Felt She Was “Rude” During First Meeting With BLACKPINK’s Jennie
Since the announcement that BLACKPINK‘s Jennie created her own company, ODD ATELIER, to manage her solo activities, netizens have been appreciating the increase in her individual schedules.
Recently, Jennie appeared alongside fellow K-Pop “it girl,” first-generation idol and legendary soloist Lee Hyori to film for the veteran singer’s new talk show, The Seasons: Lee Hyori’s Red Carpet.
During the show, Jennie opened up about her first time meeting Lee Hyori, taught the veteran idol a new dance challenge, and discussed her decision to renew her contract with YG Entertainment for group promotions with BLACKPINK while choosing not to renew with them for her solo activities.
BLACKPINK’s Jennie revealed that she felt she was following in the footsteps of Lee Hyori after she debuted and was hesitant to approach the veteran singer since she had been her idol growing up.
The two eventually met twice, and while talking about the encounters, they both realized they had very different feelings about their first meeting.
Lee Hyori first crossed paths with Jennie when the BLACKPINK member was still a rookie, while the 1st-gen artist was promoting her song “Black.”
Jennie revealed she had passed Lee Hyori in the hallway, and instead of saying anything, Lee Hyori reached out, touched her cheek, and left.
Lee Hyori shared that, reflecting on their first meeting, she realized that touching Jennie’s cheek as a “stranger” felt “rude,” but Jennie had the opposite reaction.
Jennie hilariously spilled on her own feelings, assuring Lee Hyori that she had a total fangirl moment that day.
She remembers that her heart “skipped a beat,” and she had trouble sleeping following her first encounter with Lee Hyori.
The two agreed that it was a “glorious moment” and later promised they would continue to stay in contact with each other.
