Lee Hyori’s Mother-In-Law Goes On Record Confessing She Has Given Up On Hopes For A Grandchild

K-Pop legend Lee Hyori’s mother-in-law has confessed that she no longer hopes for grandchildren.

Lee and her husband, Lee Sang Soon, have been married for eleven years and are currently childless. However, they have previously mentioned their wish to have children and even shared that they have tried to conceive.

But Lee Sang Soon’s mother, Yoon Jung Hee, seems to have let that hope go. Recently, she appeared in a YouTube video on a channel called Life Is Nothing Special and talked at length about what it was like to have Lee Hyori as her daughter-in-law. While she showered Lee with praises, when the topic of children came up, she candidly confessed that she had given up on it now.

It would be nice to have grandchildren, but now that I have grown older, I have given up on it in my heart.

She mentioned that recently, she visited her son and daughter-in-law’s new house and felt that the big space could be the ideal place to raise a kid. Yoon added, “When I told Hyori that having a kid would have been nice, she said, ‘I know, right?’”

Yoon, however, also clarified that her giving up on grandchildren did not reflect the couple’s decision. “I gave up, but I don’t know if they are still thinking about having a baby instead of giving up,” she stated.

Lee Hyori has always been vocal about her wish to have children. Even recently, when she appeared on the JTBC show Mom, Will You Go on a Trip with Me? the singer expressed her wish to have a daughter. But she also talked about the practicality of it, mentioning that it was “too late” for her and she didn’t want to go as far as IVF.

Before this, the singer had spoken about her plans for children on other variety shows as well, including Hangout With Yoo and Seoul Check-In. She had mentioned that she and her husband were making efforts to conceive. Though they chose not to pursue IVF, they also tried herbal remedies and strict lifestyle changes.
