“Lovely Runner” Actor Compares The Show To “Queen Of Tears” With A Perplexing Comment
Actress Jung Yong Joo has stirred up quite the controversy with her confusing remarks about TVING’s latest chart-topper K-Drama, Queen of Tears.
Jung is a well-known face among K-Drama viewers, owing to her roles in iconic K-Dramas such as Business Proposal, The Penthouse, Vincenzo, and Move to Heaven, among others. Her most recent role that has brought her much appreciation from audiences, however, was in Lovely Runner, the Byeon Woo Seok, and Kim Hye Yoon-starrer that has taken over the hearts of global audiences.
Jung Yong Joo recently appeared on Radio Star and talked about Lovely Runner, in which she portrayed the mother of Im Sol, the female lead of the drama. When she was asked about the dating rumors between the leads, Byeon and Kim, she gave a rather perplexing response, bringing up Queen of Tears out of the blue.
The veteran actress mentioned Queen of Tears, saying that it was airing around the same period as Lovely Runner , and compared the two leads’ dating rumors. She said that she doubted that people asked about the dating rumors between Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won as much as they did about Byeon Woo Seok and Kim Hye Yoon.
This comparison has taken many fans aback, as they couldn’t figure out what Jung was trying to imply through it. To many, it felt like she was indicating that the difference in public interest in the personal lives of the two pairs translated directly into the popularity of the two shows.
The numbers show that the two dramas did have a difference in popularity, but the other way around. While Lovely Runner’s highest nationwide rating was 5.762% and the lowest at 3.073%, Queen of Tears secured its highest rating at 24.850% and the lowest at 5.853%. Essentially, the latter’s lowest nationwide viewership was still higher than the former’s highest.
Going by dating rumors, it would be untrue to say that Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won didn’t face any speculations either. Even in July, the two actors were embroiled in fresh dating rumors related to their alleged “Lovestagrams.” Read more about it here.
