This article reveals plot details of a current movie or series.

TvN‘s Lovely Runner (also known as Run Away With Sun-Jae On Piggyback) concluded with its finale this week. This romantic-comedy time-slip show is adapted from the webcomic Tomorrow’s Best by True Beauty screenwriter Lee Si Eun. Actors Byeon Woo Seok and Kim Hye Yoon star as Ryu Sun Jae (also romanized as Ryu Seon Jae) and Im Sol, respectively.

Ryu Seon-Jae (Byeon Woo-Seok) is a top star who has been in the spotlight since his debut. His life seems perfect, but being in the entertainment industry has completely worn him out. Meanwhile, Lim Sol (Kim Hye-Yoon) loves Ryu Seon-Jae as an adoring fan. When she was little, she had an accident. Due to that, she gave up on her dream, but listening to Ryu Seon-Jae’s song on the radio gave her comfort and she became his fan since then. One day, Lim Sol hears breaking news that Ryu Seon-Jae has ended his own life. She feels deep sadness over the tragic news. Miraculously, Lim Sol somehow travels back in time to 15 years in the past. There, she faces Ryu Seon-Jae, who is a 19 year old high school student. She struggles to prevent his tragic future.

Throughout the 15 episodes leading up to the finale, viewers were stressed over the series’ villain, the “taxi driver,” Kim Young Soo, portrayed by actor Heo Hyeong Gyu. He was keeping the leads apart, as in various timelines, he was responsible for kidnappings, deaths, etc.

Finally, in the finale, Kim Young Soo finally was caught but fell to his death, drowning. Viewers were relieved he was finally gone so Im Sol and Ryu Sun Jae could be together.

Still, viewers wondered about the villain’s motivation, as many shows explain an antagonist’s backstory to understand why they made their choices.

Heo Hyeong Gyu attended the Lovely Runner pop-up event recently. In an interview, he revealed that his character lacked motivation or backstory. He is not a villain to be understood, as some people are born evil. The actor hates Young Soo more than anyone.

Young Soo had no reason [to kill Im Sol and/or Ryu Sun Jae]. Don’t try to understand him, He’s just born to be a bad guy and unfortunately he caught Im Sol. Im Sol didn’t do anything wrong. Don’t be curious about his backstory. I also hate him.

At the same event, Heo Hyeong Gyu posed for pictures, revealing his true personality. He appeared to be a big fan of the main couple! He is so cute in real life.

Additionally, the Lovely Runner cast attended the finale screening party recently. The finale aired on Heo Hyeong Gyu’s birthday. So, naturally, he was feeling a lot of emotions and broke into tears. He rarely lands prominent roles, so Lovely Runner was a big deal for him.

Lovely Runner fans can’t help but love Heo Hyeong Gyu, although they dislike Young Soo. He’s so softhearted and sweet.

Heo Hyeong Gyu has also shown his true personality through his social media activity. He couldn’t be more different from his character.

Hopefully, Heo Hyeong Gyu will be cast in more roles where he can showcase his duality!
