Male version of Mnet’s “Produce 101” to premiere next year
The male version of Produce 101 girl group I.O.I is set to make its debut next year!
According to a broadcaster on October 28th, they are aiming to premiere the male version of Produce 101 in March 2017. In response to this comment, Mnet gave a caution response, stating that “The male edition of Produce 101 is being organized and is currently under review.”
Earlier this year, Produce 101 made its debut with 101 female trainees (including two trainees who later dropped out) from 46 different agencies in South Korea. In the finals, only 11 trainees survived the brutal competition, making their debut as one but temporary girl group, I.O.I.
Recently, the girl group dropped their mini-album Miss Me, and is promoting the title track “Very Very Very,” for which they recently took home their very first music show trophy on Show Champion on the 26th.
Come January 2017, the group will officially disband and return to their original agencies either as trainees to get ready for a possible debut or to their already established girl groups.
