MAMAMOO Hwasa’s Recent Controversial “R-Rated” Action During A Performance Is Cut Out Of A Korean Reality TV Show
In the newest episode of tvN‘s reality show Dancing Queens on the Road, Hwasa’s recent controversial “R-rated” action during a performance was omitted.
On the June 22 episode of Dancing Queens on the Road, the four divas Lee Hyori, Kim Wan Sun, Uhm Jung Hwa, and MAMAMOO’s Hwasa performed at university festivals. Because it is currently university festival season, the singers decided to split up and perform at two universities: Kim Wan Sun, Lee Hyo Ri, and Hwasa decided to perform at Sungkyungkwan University, and Uhm Jung Hwa and BoA chose Korea University.
Last month, Hwasa received criticism for an action she did during her performance at the Sungkyungkwan University festival—this performance was filmed for Dancing Queens on the Road. During her performance of “Don’t,” a song she released with rapper Loco, Hwasa made a gesture of licking her hand and then putting her hand on a specific body part.
Although the crowd went wild, the moment became viral later, and reactions were mixed; some believed that because it was a university festival and not a high school festival, it was not a big deal. Others believed it was unnecessary.
During the episode of Dancing Queens on the Road, the other singers put on a fantastic performance. Hwasa was the last to take the stage, and she performed a MAMAMOO medley. She even made the audience scream by taking off her jacket and throwing it at the audience.
When it was time to sing “Don’t,” the reality show cut out the scene of Hwasa doing the “R-rated” action. Instead, they showed the reactions of the audience, Lee Hyori and Kim Wan Sun. Because of the controversial responses to the action, it appears that the show intentionally did not show that part of the performance.
Regardless of adding or omitting that short moment, Hwasa’s performance received a lot of love from the audience and her fellow Dancing Queens on the Road stars.
