During the show, netizens’ hearts couldn’t contain emotions when Jaechan’s character came out to his mom on the show. Even as more LGBTQIA+ characters make appearances in K-Dramas, this was not seen in mainstream shows broadcasted on major Korean networks, especially one like MBC.

Going into the final episode, netizens wondered what Jaechan’s fate would be with Junho in America, with many worrying that he wouldn’t get the happy ending he deserved.

In one of the final scenes, Jaechan’s character speaks to his senior, So Yi, who works at a cafe. He asks what the time is in Korea, and when she replies, she asks why he wasn’t at home yet, and Jaechan replied that he had been at the library.

Suddenly, an arm appeared around Jaechan, and it was Jun Ho, implying that they were both in America together. So Yi joked that they’re always together, and Jun Ho added, “Of course,” before asking when she was coming to see them.

When she said it would happen when she had somewhere to sleep, Jaechan replied that their house was spacious, and So Yi explained how determined she was to visit, even clocking in extra hours.

When So Yi put down the phone, the happy couple walked down the stairs hand in hand.

After seeing Jaechan get his happy ending with his boyfriend in America, netizens couldn’t hide their shock and happiness at seeing a gay character have a happy ending in a mainstream K-Drama.
