MBC’s “Extreme Debut: Wild Idol” Issues Statement Following INFINITE Sunggyu’s Positive COVID-19 Test
Recently, INFINITE’s Sunggyu was revealed to have tested positive for COVID-19. According to his agency, he had received COVID-19 testing every week while preparing for the musical Gwanghwamun Sonata. However, even after receiving the Janssen vaccination on June 10, he still tested positive on June 27.
Before testing on June 25, he participated in the recording for MBC’s Extreme Debut: Wild Idol on June 23 and 24. In order to participate for this recording, the cast for the show had to submit the results of the COVID-19 test conducted at least four days before the recording.
According to the show, “Before filming, all staff and cast completed the COVID-19 test and finished filming with everyone testing negative. With the mission conducted outdoors, the cast and crew filmed at a distance of about 3m from Kim Sunggyu.”
They continued, “After hearing the news, all production crew that have overlapped with Sunggyu will be tested and self-isolated according to the quarantine guidelines. In addition, all cast that was in the same space as Kim Sunggyu will also be tested today. The future production schedule will be adjusted according to the guidelines of the quarantine authorities.”
