Megan Lee files for contract nullification with Soulshop Entertainment
Korean-American singer Megan Lee is currently under dispute with her agency Soulshop Entertainment, as she has been reported to have filed for her contract to be nullified.
Megan Lee filed for the contract nullification on the 10th at the Seoul Central District Court, with her side stating an unfair contract on her behalf.
In response to her contract nullification request, the agency, Soulshop Entertainment, has released a statement on the afternoon of November 25th saying, “Megan Lee unilaterally participated in the American audition without making any explanations to us. It has caused a huge damage to us, so we are to do our level best with the exclusive contract lawsuit.”
The agency further explained, “On last May 11th this year, an American entertainment agency proposed Megan Lee’s audition to us. We sent an audition clip of Megan to the agency, however until September we have never received any responses, which was 4 months after they received the clip.”
“Later on September the 1st, Megan Lee attended the open audition for the All Shook Up musical and signed the contract on September 12th. After that, on October 21st, we were informed by the American agency that regardless of Megan’s contract with the current agency and the musical All Shook Up, she will attend the final audition for an American drama.”
Soulshop Entertainment further claimed that Megan Lee, after making an unilateral notice to the agency, left the country on November 16th in order to participate in the final audition in U.S.. Accordingly the schedules for the musical All Shook Up were interfered with. Later on November 19th, Megan came back and attended musical practice without informing her agency of her return.
“Megan Lee’s mother only notified to the production team of musical company by email and not us (Soulshop Entertainment), that Megan is no longer attending musical rehearsals, starring in the musical, and that they are going to proceed with the lawsuit. Due to this, all the other participants of the musical All Shook Up and the interested parties and the agency are confronting serious consequences.”
