ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin Addresses Accusations That She Badmouthed NewJeans Behind Their Backs
This article is part of our coverage of HYBE vs. ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin. You can read more and view the entire timeline here.
It was previously claimed on May 17, 2024, that ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin had been insulting NewJeans‘ members behind their backs. In news released by controversial YouTuber Lee Jin Ho, it was claimed that although Min Hee Jin claims herself to be “NewJeans’ mother,” crying over the members mistreatment, she had been badmouthing them to other staff members. On the same day, it was said that HYBE had submitted these messages to the court as proof of her betrayal.
The messages allegedly contained phrases that attacked the members, such as “just tell them to be humble, because even if they gain weight like pigs, we will make them popular,” as well as “they did not get popular because they’re good. What would they know? Just tell them to look in the mirror,” as well as “elementary school kids who get scolded because they can’t lose weight,” and more. HYBE’s claims were rejected by the court on the basis of lack of evidence.
During a press conference on May 31, 2024, Min Hee Jin personally addressed questions about the claims. She claimed that she does not remember writing those, but she also acknowledged that she saw the news and wondered if she did write them.
“I don’t remember the messages. It’s kind of so-so of them to open up text messages on KakaoTalk from three whole years ago. Honestly, when I saw the news, I even wondered, ‘did I say that?’ I don’t remember.”
