There have been many different accusations and arguments thrown back and forth in the HYBE vs. ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin feud, not the least of which have been the numerous accusations of plagiarism and copying that Min has aimed at ILLIT, TWS, and other artists. Some people have been supportive of her while others have been more skeptical, and arguments about what can or can’t be considered plagiarism have become a heavily discussed topic in the K-Pop community.
In the midst of this, an old photobook designed by Min Hee Jin herself from 14 years ago has reemerged as an example of the CEO’s tastes having remained very consistent over the last many years.
The photobook is actually the first released by Girls’ Generation back in 2010, called Girls in Tokyo. The album features 354 pages as well as an over hour-long DVD, and was released in June of that year.
Similar to many of NewJeans‘ concepts, this photobook has a very youthful, nostalgic aesthetic to it.
From the setting to the activities being done by the members, and the outfits and even the filters used on the pictures, it’s all very reminiscent of the type of concept that Min Hee Jin has become known for.
It seems to show that even as far back as 2010, Hee Jin had already defined her career through a certain type of content.
It has a feeling of a schoolgirl-like aesthetic as well, which is what makes it nostalgic for a lot of fans.
Even though it was released well over a decade ago, many K-Pop fans still consider it a legendary photobook, and one that many still have to this day.
Here’s how Korean netizens are reacting to this photobook being brought back to the spotlight.
- “A real masterpiece.”
- “This was a legend.”
- “Hmm, so it was Min Hee Jin… Anyway, I liked the girls’ photo book.”
- “This is a legendary photobook.”
