Mnet official addresses rumours about Produce 101 and Show Me The Money 6
According to reports, new seasons of two of Mnet‘s most popular survival shows will be airing this year.
On February 1, one industry official told news outlet Ilgan Sports that Show Me The Money 6 is scheduled to be broadcast sometime this summer. The show will begin airing directly after the second season of Produce 101 comes to a conclusion. No specific air date has been set yet, it is expected to begin airing in May.
After reports started spreading regarding the two shows, an official from Mnet quickly clarified by explaining:
“The production of ‘SMTM6′ has been confirmed for this year but we only have predictions that it will air some time mid to late this year. Nothing has been confirmed that it will be airing as a follow up after ‘Produce 101 Season 2’ so far.”
The official did not rule out that Produce 101 Season 2 would begin airing in May.
Produce 101 Season 2 will be a male trainee version. Season 1 featured female trainees and became a huge hit, with the 1-year project group I.O.I bringing in huge amounts of revenue and leaving their fans with unforgettable moments.
Show Me The Money 6 will most likely follow the same format as the previous seasons. The show typically begins with individual auditions until a point where the rappers are able to select a judging team to work with. The songs released through the show have shown immense popularity. Past winners of Show Me The Money include Loco, iKON‘s Bobby, and BewhY.
