Why Fans Are Protesting A Popular Group’s Planned Rest Day

This is not the first time fans have had complaints.

Usually, fans of idol groups campaign for their faves to have more time to rest. Many groups have famously talked about their lack of rest time, sometimes resulting in backlash from fans.

Currently, fans of ARTMS are protesting — not for the group to have a rest day but the opposite for specific reason.

ARTMS is one of the multiple groups formed after LOONA left Blockberry Entertainment.  Made up of Heejin, Haseul, Kim Lip, Jinsoul, and Choerry, the group debuted in May 2024 under Jaden Jeong‘s Modhaus.

Previously, the company came under fire for using a system called Gravity to allow fans to vote on what ARTMS would wear to the airport. The voting is paid, leaving many uncomfortable with the control given to fans.

This time around, fans are more outraged as the platform is being used to decide details of a planned rest day for the group. In an announcement on the group’s X account, it was shared that a planned “rest day” that would be filmed for content would occur.

However, the company shared that each member would be given a sum of money to spend, ranging from 300 Euros to 10 Euros (around 330 USD to 11 USD).

Also included in the rules were that the members could team up but not exceed a budget of 300 Euro, and allowed fans to make suggestions on their activities.

Many fans have found this to be cruel and demeaning, questioning why a day of rest during their busy schedule cannot just be that. Others have asked that this “rest day” not occur, and be replaced with a real one.
