“Moonlight Drawn by Clouds” beats “Scarlet Heart: Ryeo” to grab #1 in viewership
In the war of ratings among Monday night K-dramas, Moonlight Drawn by Clouds (Moonlight) has taken the lead over Scarlet Heart: Ryeo.
According to the Nielsen Korea’s ratings report for dramas aired on the 29th, KBS2 TV drama Moonlight recorded 16.0% nationwide viewership, taking the first place lead. This was approximately double its ratings from the week before, which was at 8.5%. Moonlight not only set its own viewership record but also became the victor of the Monday night ratings war.
Meanwhile, SBS drama Scarlet Heart: Ryeo (aka Moon Lovers and not to be confused with Moonlight Drawn by Clouds) premiered the first two episodes on the same night, starting off with 7.4% and the second episode recording a minor increase with 9.3%. Meanwhile, MBC drama Monster recorded 10%.
Both Moonlight and Scarlet Heart: Ryeo are named by K-drama fans to be competitor shows, as both are set as historical dramas and both have recruited top stars in their casting lineup. However, Moonlight’s current success might be too early to be determined as both dramas still have 15 more episode broadcasts to compete with each other.
