The series first aired on Wavve in November 2022, following its premiere at the 27th Busan International Film Festival. Based on the Naver webtoon Weak Hero, the drama was directed and written by Yoo Soo Min, with actors Park Ji Hoon, Choi Hyun Wook, and Hong Kyung leading the cast. Despite already having a strong fanbase, its recent addition to Netflix has introduced it to a wider audience, sending it up the platform’s most-watched K-Drama rankings.

Following its Netflix release on March 25, 2025, Weak Hero Class 1 quickly gained traction, trending on Korean online forums and securing high positions in multiple countries. In Asia, it topped Netflix charts in Malaysia and Thailand, placed second in the Philippines and Indonesia, and ranked third in South Korea and Vietnam. It also performed well in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, and Japan. In Europe, it made it to the top five in France and Spain and ranked in the top 10 in Germany and Italy.
