Nam Tae Hyun And Ex-Lover Sentenced For Drug Abuse
Former WINNER member Nam Tae Hyun and his ex-girlfriend Seo Eun Woo (Formerly Seo Min Jae) were sentenced for illegally abusing drugs.
On January 18, it was reported that the Seoul Central District Court handed down suspended sentences to both Nam Tae Hyun and Seo Eun Woo. Nam Tae Hyun was given a 1-year sentence, suspended for two years, while Seo Eun Woo was given a 10-month prison sentence, suspended for two years.
The judge also ordered Nam Tae Hyun and Seo Eun Woo to be given 40 hours of drug rehabilitation and fined them ₩550,000 KRW (about $409 USD) and ₩450,000 KRW (about $334 USD), respectively.
The judge gave his reason for the suspended sentences, citing the fact that neither of the defendants had a criminal history.
Although the fact that Nam Tae Hyun abused methamphetamine while being charged with marijuana warrants a harsher sentence, I considered the fact that he had never been charged with a similar crime and the fact that he has promised to quit drugs and showed a willingness to be rehabilitated. Seo Min Jae is also a first-time offender who doesn’t have a criminal record and is currently being treated for rehabilitation.
