The first of the Mark Lee lookalike contests was announced to be in New York and initially scheduled to take place on December 7, though it was later moved to December 13. The contest actually made Korean news, as fans anticipated it.

Anticipation only grew further when Mark himself reposted about the contest, leading many to believe the idol might show up. The event did hit a bit of an unexpected obstacle as police came to investigate, with a fan reportedly taking on the fine for the gathering.

As it turned out, Mark and two security guards showed up after the event began. While the idol was all smiles in initial videos and photos…

…many attendees shared that the situation got out of hand as some began pushing and mobbing around the idol. According to fans, the idol left quickly after arriving due to the situation, with fans seen running and chasing after him and his vehicle.

Mark showing up to the event was a nice surprise for those in attendance, and hopefully, no one was injured after the mobbing took place.
