Popular K-Pop Idol’s Return From Hiatus Sparks Debate
NCT’s Renjun, who has been on hiatus since April due to health issues, has made an update for fans.
On August 9, an official statement was released regarding his health and future activities.
“Hello, we are here to inform you about Renjun’s health and future activities. Renjun, who halted activities due to health issues, has been focusing on recovery and has significantly improved.
With this, he will participate in NCT DREAM’s U.S. single, Rains in Heaven, which is set to drop on August 23. Fans will also be able to see Renjun in related content.
However, as it is too early for him to handle a long tour, we have concluded that he will not participate in THE DREAM SHOW 3: DREAM()SCAPE in the States.
Renjun’s activities after the tour will depend on his recovery’s progress, and we will update you when the time comes.
Thank you to all the fans who continue to support Renjun. We will work hard to ensure his return to fans in good health. Thank you.”
However, Korean netizens responses were divided on his return. While some were curious to know if he had apologized to the alleged victim who had their phone number exposed by Renjun…
- “Did he apologize to the victim? I’m surprised that the response is quiet.”
- “But can he return with that kind of mental state? He had his phone number revealed by a sasaeng just two months ago. Isn’t it better to rest a bit more.”
- “He’s not promoting, just participating in the contents.”
- “Did he apologize to the victim? I looked it up on Twitter not too long ago because I was curious.”
- “I forgot about this too…I wonder if he apologized.”\\
…some were just happy to see him back.
- “Ah so he’s not returning for the U.S. tour…you can return slowly, Renjun.”
- “Wow!”
- “F*ck yes Jun is back!”
- “Hope he returns healthy.”
- “I missed him so much.”
- “Renjun I’ll be waiting.”
Mixed reactions continued regarding the sasaeng phone number controversy.
- “Is he returning after making a proper apology.”
- “Wow Renjun it’s been awhile!”
- “Even if he is returning, I hope. he gives a sincere apology to the victim. You can’t use health issues as a shield.”
- “Finally.”
- “The victim wants an apology, why isn’t he giving one?”
- “Renjun! Finally we get to see you!”
Previously, NCT’s Renjun has been exposing sasaeng’s personal information through the fan app Bubble. Earlier this month, he revealed the account handle of a sasaeng selling the group members’ personal information.
Most recently, he shared another message on Bubble, exposing the phone number of an alleged sasaeng. However, the owner of the phone number posted a full statement online, revealing that they were not a sasaeng and did not have any intention of calling Renjun.
