While many K-Pop groups write their own music, agencies often recruit songwriters and producers outside of K-Pop to create music for groups. Tiffany Red is one such individual and has songwriting credits for NCT DREAM‘s “Go” and NCT U‘s “Boss.”

In 2020, she revealed that she believed SM Entertainment had underpaid and disrespected her.

SM Entertainment Under Fire After Black Producer Of NCT’s “Boss” & “Go” Alleges The Company Underpaid & Disrespected Her

Recently, she discussed new issues between her and SM Entertainment related to her work on “Boss.”

In a series of videos on social media Tiffany Red shared her recent interaction with SM Entertainment, first with a screenshot of an email. The email explained that EKKO the publishing company she is signed to in Korea emailed to request approval for the usage of “Boss” in order for it to be included in the NCT STADIUM LIVE NCT NATION: To The World in Japan Blu-ray and offered an amount she did not approve of, with no response.

The Blu-ray in question was released in March 2024, before she got a response back and without her permission. She also cited that it was part of a larger set of issues she has dealt with since 2020.

She continued saying that she would pursue legal action as her rights had been violated by the un-approved usage of the song in the Blu-ray.

In a follow up video, she further explained that even though the performance of the song might have been different, that did not change her need to be compensated by the company.
