NCT WISH Harshly Criticized For Their Live Vocals During Encore

“SM has lost its edge.”

Live vocals have become a hot topic among fans as there has been a rise in criticism towards idols’ singing ability, especially during music show encores, which are done live with normally no backing or in-ears.

NCT WISH‘s recent encore sparked major criticism.

On July 10, NCT WISH appeared on Show Champion and performed the Korean version of their song “Songbird.”

During the show, netizens shared their excitement after NCT WISH won.

The members then took part in the traditional encore.

Sadly, while many international fans praised the members, Korean netizens on theqoo didn’t feel the same.

While the original forum tried to say that the Japanese members sang better, the comments were full of mixed comments about the encore in general. Some criticized the quality of the live vocals, especially considering SM Entertainment is normally known for strong singers, others thought the members weren’t in good condition considering that their past encores showcased strong vocals.

  • “They say SM Entertainment is all about the fundamentals, but what is this?”
  • “Personally, I’ve found Sion’s vocals to be unstable since the survival show. Jaehui seems to be in poor condition. If you watch the first encore, Jaehee did really well.”
  • “Wow, lol, look at these chill comments, lol. Excusing their condition, lol. Last time, there was a huge uproar over an idol hitting one wrong note, lol.”
  • “Their skills are really lacking.”
  • “These comments are so generous, lol.”
  • “SM Entertainment has lost its edge. Didn’t they use to be very picky about members’ vocal skills and tone when forming groups?”
  • “Jaehee usually does well, but maybe he wasn’t in good condition today. ㅠㅠㅠ”
  • “This is serious.”
  • “They’re not usually this bad, but today is pretty bad. I wonder if something happened.”
  • “There are probably many ordinary people at karaoke who sing better than that.”

Although it might have been an off day for the members’ vocals, the topic of live singing continues to be something idols are scrutinized for.
