NCT’s Last Unit Set To Debut Under The Supervision Of Iconic SM Entertainment Idol
The upcoming debut of NCT‘s new unit, NCT WISH, has created significant anticipation among K-Pop fans. Meanwhile, on January 31, SM Entertainment stated that the group would debut under the wing of one of the stalwart artists from the label.
The label announced that the veteran K-Pop star BoA will be stepping into the role of a producer for this much-anticipated debut.
In the official statement, the label said that she will be helping NCT WISH with their debut with her “know-how, insight, instincts, and personality she has accumulated as a leading figure in the globalization of K-Pop.“
For those unaware, BoA, a K-Pop icon in her own right, made her debut in 2000 at the age of 13. She has been a trailblazer in the industry, and her immense popularity in both Korea and Japan trailblazed the Hallyu wave across Asia. One of her significant achievements includes being the first Korean artist to enter the U.S. Billboard main chart album, Billboard 200.
BoA has already been involved in creating the lineup of NCT WISH as a co-mentor of the reality show NCT Universe: LASTART. Since this new part of NCT will primarily be a Japanese unit, BoA’s unique stature as a leading K-Pop idol in the Japanese market is expected to prove her input valuable for their debut.
As a producer, BoA will be supervising the overall production of NCT WISH’s debut album, including the music and performance aspects. She also plans to continue leading the activities and the growth of the members as a producer in the future.
Meanwhile, NCT WISH is set to debut at the Tokyo Dome in Japan on February 21.
