Netflix Confirms 2PM’s Ok Taecyeon Is Starring In BL Drama, Revealing First Look
Previously, it was reported that 2PM‘s Ok Taecyeon would star in a new Netflix show.
On June 27, an entertainment industry official reported to Sports Chosun that Taecyeon is filming a Netflix J-Drama titled Soulmate. It tells the story of a Japanese man, Ryu, and a Korean boxer, Yo Han. Over a decade, the two meet in Seoul, Berlin, and Tokyo and become closer as they heal one another’s wounds.
Hayato Isomura has been confirmed to star opposite Taecyeon. He is a veteran Japanese actor known for Alice in Borderland, Kinou nani tabeta?, Kamen Rider Heisei Generations: Dr. Pac-Man vs. Ex-Aid & Ghost with Legend Rider, Kamen Rider Ghost, and many more.
Soulmate has been reportedly described as a “bromance,” with some adding that it will go “beyond mere friendship.” Some netizens questioned if this “bromance” was code for BL (Boy Love).

Finally, Netflix has confirmed that Soul Mate is technically a BL J-Drama while revealing a first look.
Netflix’s official social media accounts posted a photo of Taecyeon and Hayato Isomura sitting side-by-side. In the caption, the plot for the series was officially revealed: “Traversing the cities of Berlin, Seoul, and Tokyo, the series tells a 10-year-long love story between two young men. From writer and director Shunki Hashizume (Scroll, More Than Words).” With that, Netflix confirmed that it’s not just a “bromance” but a “love story between two young men.”

Still, some netizens have reservations, as we’re all processing trauma from K.Will‘s sequel to “Please Don’t…” Besides, dramas have a history of tragic endings for queer love stories.
theyre gonna make them fall in love with each other and then k.will starts playing and someone dies https://t.co/iU4r86FvwI
