Gong Yoo’s New K-Drama “The Trunk” Shocks With Multiple Sex Scenes

K-Dramas are often stereotyped as “wholesome” and “tame” for featuring “fish kisses” and “hand-holding” by Episode 8 in comparison to Western television shows having sex scenes in Episode 1. Yet, a new K-Drama is proving this stereotype wrong by shocking viewers with more than one sex scene.

Netflix recently released its new Korean melodrama series, The Trunk, based on the novel of the same name by Kim Ryeo Ryeong. Written by Park Eun Young and directed by Kim Kyu Tae, it stars Seo Hyun Jin, Gong Yoo, Jung Yun Ha, and Jung Yun Ha.

Noh In-Ji (Seo Hyun-Jin) works for contract marriage provider NM. The company provides its clients with a spouse for a fixed-term 1 year contract marriage. Noh In-Ji has finished her 4th contract marriage. She meets Han Jeong-Won (Gong Yoo) for her 5th contract marriage. Han Jeong-Won works as a music producer. His life is filled with anxiety and loneliness due to the pain from his past. He still badly misses his ex-wife Seo-Yeon, who applied for the spouse providing company NM for him. Han Jeong-Won meets Noh In-Ji from NM and he begins his second marriage with her. They get to know each other and used to each other as time passes. One day, a mysterious trunk is recovered from a lake. This leads them into a whirlwind of secrets behind the NM company.

Viewers were in for a shock when the K-Drama had multiple explicit sex scenes early on in the series.

In Episode 1, Seo Yeon and her new husband (by contract) are shown having sex in their kitchen while Jeong Won attempts to call her. The scene got a lot more explicit than viewers bargained for.

Yet, it was tame compared to the couple’s scenes in Episode 2. In one clip, she briefly watched him shower but declined his request to touch her.

In another scene, we joined the couple in their bedroom, where it got very spicy, as nothing was left to the imagination, as actress Jung Yun Ha went topless.

Jeong Won and In Ji also shared an intimate scene later, in Episode 4, where they make love. While they were seemingly naked in bed together, actor Gong Yoo covered Seo Hyun Jin so that her body was not visible.

Overall, many viewers were impressed with the raw and realistic nature of the K-Drama.
