Netflix’s New Korean Reality Show Might Be Even More Brutal Than “Physical: 100”
In Netflix‘s Physical: 100, one hundred men and women faced off in gladiatorial challenges that put their physical–and mental–strength through the wringer. Now, a whole new cast of combatants will face off in Netflix’s next Korean survival show.
Physical: 100 introduced viewers to an ecclectic cast from various backgrounds. The competitors included a K-Pop dancer, mixed martial arts champion, an Olympian, a farmer, and more. Siren: Survive the Island, however, will only choose competitors from specific professions.
In this high-stakes combat competition, twenty-four women with physically demanding careers will form six teams and battle it out. The teams will be divided by career: stuntwomen, soldiers, bodyguards, athletes, police officiers, and firefighters.
At this time, no details about the cast have been released. Given the criteria, however, it’s possible that some Physical: 100 competitors could be getting a second chance on the show, such as Special Forces sergeant Kkang Mi.
Unlike Physical: 100, which was shot in a studio, Siren: Survive the Island will take place on an uninhabited island where the contestants will have to combat the terrain as well as each other.
Netflix has yet to confirm the show’s release date, but it is expected to air during the second quarter of 2023. Until then, stay tuned for updates!
