“Sh*tty Company”: Why Netizens Are Concerned About SHINee’s Taemin Potentially Joining BPM Entertainment
Recently, it was reported that SHINee‘s Taemin would leave SM Entertainment after sixteen years to sign with BPM Entertainment (also known as Big Planet Made).
On March 5, BPM Entertainment released statements to the Korean media regarding this rumor. OSEN was told the company was checking the matter, while TV Daily was informed that nothing was decided.
Regarding recruiting Taemin into the company, we are currently in the midst of checking the facts internally.

Nothing has been decided regarding Taemin.

Netizens hope this stays a rumor and only a rumor due to BPM Entertainment’s various controversies, some even including SM Entertainment artists. Previously, BPM Entertainment reportedly approached EXO’s Chen, Xiumin, and Baekhyun in 2023 to sign with them.
In 2023, EXO’s Chen, Xiumin, and Baekhyun (also known as EXO-CBX) announced their plan to sue SM Entertainment to terminate their contracts. At the time, music artist MC Mong, who was reportedly a higher-up at BPM Entertainment, was accused of encouraging EXO-CBX to file their lawsuit. SM Entertainment took legal action, accusing BPM Entertainment of poaching EXO-CBX. Ultimately, EXO-CBX and SM Entertainment resolved misunderstandings and continued their contract. Yet, a few months later, it was announced sub-unit and solo activities would be managed by INB100, an independent agency established by Baekhyun, while EXO remained under SM Entertainment.
seems like BPM is hijacking SM by scouting their artists when the contract nearly ended. Something sus going on, first exo, now shinee https://t.co/q4iDGk3irp

Concerning MC Mong’s involvement, BPM Entertainment denied it. Despite this, many netizens believe he is still the power behind the company, stating he’s not officially on paper due to past controversies. Yet, he was registered as the executive director around the time of the founding of BPM Entertainment. The company claimed that he is now no longer a director, though.
Regardless of MC Mong’s involvement, most netizens agree that the company’s artist management is poor. Some have reported that its artists’ events and accounts are poorly managed.
it wasnt a fansign it was a fan concert, not sure if that makes it better or worse lol

Former NU’EST member Ren‘s music streaming accounts, such as Spotify and Apple Music, have been hacked for about a month. Fans have alerted BPM Entertainment continuously with no success.
Dear @bpmentofficial
Someone is using Ren’s Spotify, he changed the profile picture, the description and he uploaded their own music con his profile. Please don't let him use it.@REN_BPM#REN #ChoiMingi pic.twitter.com/j6WpHxCncH— Aylin 🌙 (@Aylin_madmj9395) February 29, 2024
bpm is such a shitty company that we as fans are reporting the whole situation on Ren's personal YouTube channel.. Even though we contacted them via e-mail, they do not inform us fans about this. Bpm really failed in artist management. pic.twitter.com/vsdAvid8uN

Hello BPM,
As fans, we noticed that Ren’s Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Amazon are connected to someone else. They exchanged photos, albums and even biographies. Please protect your artist. We hope, as a company, that you will rectify this situation. Thank you.@bpmentofficial… pic.twitter.com/R7oT4X2LY6— nuest.j Seolhee 늉해-W❤️💙 (@NyoongHaeSeol) February 27, 2024

Additionally, VIVIZ fans remembered Eunha, SinB, and Umji were made to fly internationally and perform at We Bridge Music Festival immediately following the death of their close friend, ASTRO‘s Moonbin. The fandom has been upset with the company since.
BPM also made Viviz fly out to an event instead of letting them stay back to mourn their friend Moonbin and made Eunha conduct an entire fanmeeting there by herself so I wouldn’t be that thrilled. https://t.co/rXws7nVUhO

I’m glad Taemin is doing what he wants, but I hope he reconsiders signing with BPM. I’ve hated them ever since they forced VIVIZ to fly to Vegas and perform right after Moonbin’s death. https://t.co/eGwxIRcQIX

Besides Ren and VIVIZ, former Wanna One and HOTSHOT member Ha Sung Woon, Huh Gak, Lee Mujin, Be’O, and Lee Soo Geun are signed to BPM Entertainment. Recently, choreographer and dancer Kany, who has worked with SHINee on “HARD” and more, also signed. So, netizens have mixed feelings overall about the company. They believe BPM Entertainment produces good artists and music but doesn’t promote well.
idk why some taemints are so worried about taemin joining BPM when the music actually slaps, the promotions are shit but the music is top tier pic.twitter.com/hjCsdYj9k8

about bpm tbh they fucking SUCK at caring about internationals but for viviz, the managers are nice the girls are very happy and the makeup/styling has been better than what viviz has ever been getting so I would say it's definitely an OK company at least
