Netizens Astonished At The Difference In Visuals Of “Single’s Inferno” And “Love Island UK” Female Contestants
While completely different, Korea’s dating show Single’s Inferno and the UK show Love Island have the same concept of good-looking people trying to find love in a secluded place.
Recently, a TikTok has gone viral, with nearly 9 million views and over 1.4 million likes, comparing the visuals of the female contestants on both shows, especially in terms of age.
The female contestants from Single’s Inferno included Song Ji A, who was 24 years old…
Kang So Yeon, who was 33 years old…
Choi Hye Seon, who was 26 years old…
And Kim Gyu Ri, who was 27 years old when she appeared on the show.
This was then compared to four contestants from the recent series of Love Island, including 24-year-olds Nicole Samuel and Harriett Blackmore…
25-year-old Jess White…
And 26-year-old Samantha Kenny.
A big topic of discussion when it comes to Love Island is the age of the female contestants. Many are under the age of 27 but have come under criticism for looking much older, with viewers accusing them of plastic surgery, fillers, and botox. It meant that when the viral TikTok put four of the contestants from Love Island next to the Single’s Inferno contestants, it seemed crazy that they could be a similar age or even younger.
In the comments, netizens were in shock at the difference in the visuals, pointing out that the UK contestants looked much older and how they believed it was because of a difference in “skin care.”
Others hit back at the comments under the video, explaining that it was hurtful and counted as bullying towards the contestants on Love Island, especially when the beauty standards are very different in Korea and the UK.
It is clear that beauty standards are very different in the UK and Korea, leading the contestants to have different images. While it has become a hot topic, many think it’s unfair to compare eight very different women who have grown up in very different environments.
