Netizens Mourn Goo Hara After The Idol’s Heroism Come To Light
Korean netizens are celebrating the late Goo Hara as a hero.
On May 19, the BBC World Service’s investigative team, BBC Eye, released a powerful new documentary titled Burning Sun, revealing how two female Korean journalists exposed sex scandals involving prominent K-Pop stars.
BBC Releases Damning “Burning Sun” Documentary With Never-Before-Seen Footage
One of the biggest revelations in the documentary was the role Goo Hara had played in helping journalists expose the scandal. According to one of the journalists, when they needed it most, Goo Hara was able to convince Choi Jonghoon to speak to the journalist. Their recorded conversation would be the big break the journalists needed.
Goo Hara’s feat is even more incredible, considering the idol had helped despite her own personal controversy. The year before, Hara was the victim of blackmail at the hands of her ex-boyfriend, who threatened to release a sex video taken without her consent. He was ultimately sentenced to a year in prison in August 2019.
Netizens reacted to the revelation with many praising the late idol. Others apologized and mourned the death of the star.
