Soloist Jessi was recently implicated in a controversy when her acquaintances assaulted a teenage fan on the streets. She had been hanging out with a group of friends when a young fan approached her for a photo. Her acquaintance got riled up and swung a punch at the fan. Jessi tried to intervene at first but ended up leaving the scene. Later, she denied knowing the attacker prior to meeting him that very day.

Following the incident, Jessi had been at the mercy of criticism and malicious comments. One particular one raised alarm bells due to their harsh words. She personally responded to it via Instagram stories.

While public sentiment in Korea had been negative towards Jessi initially, it seems like even netizens have acknowledged that things are crossing a line. They blasted the malicious comments for hoping for her death.
