Netizens Mistake BIGBANG’s G-Dragon For BTS’s J-Hope
BTS and BIGBANG are two of the biggest K-Pop group of all time. They each have unique styles, and each member has made a name for himself too.
Yet, recently, BIGBANG’s rapper G-Dragon was nearly mistaken for BTS’s rapper J-Hope!
G-Dragon met with American contemporary artist Tom Sachs, his wife, art director, historian, and writer Sarah Hoover, and their son.

The family was in Seoul, South Korea, as Sachs brought pieces of his to display in museums, such as HYBE INSIGHT.
Tom Sachs is an artist from New York City. He specializes in modern art in sculpting. He is “probably best known for his elaborate recreations of various Modern icons, all of them masterpieces of engineering and design of one kind or another.” GQ referred to him as “the Handyman of High Art.”
TOM SACHS is a sculptor, probably best known for his elaborate recreations of various Modern icons, all of them masterpieces of engineering and design of one kind or another. In an early show he made Knoll office furniture out of phone books and duct tape; later, he recreated Le Corbusier’s 1952 Unité d’Habitation using only foamcore and a glue gun. Other projects have included his versions of various Cold War masterpieces, like the Apollo 11 Lunar Excursion Module, and the bridge of the battleship USS Enterprise. And because no engineering project is more complex and pervasive than the corporate ecosystem, he’s done versions of those, too, including a McDonald’s he built using plywood, glue, assorted kitchen appliances. He’s also done Hello Kitty and her friends in materials ranging from foamcore to bronze.

So, G-Dragon, being an art collector, of course, met with the famous artist while he was in Korea. They appeared to hit it off as G-Dragon visited Tom Sachs’ “Space Program: Indoctrination” in Art Sonje Center.

Yet, when videos of their meeting circulated across social media, especially TikTok, some netizens didn’t quite recognize G-Dragon at first. Some even mistook him for another famous K-Pop idol, BTS’s J-Hope.
Especially with a beanie, sunglasses, and mask on, it’s easy to mistake someone. G-Dragon and J-Hope’s style is also similar. Not to mention J-Hope had recently met Tom Sachs with Suga too.
So, naturally, some thought G-Dragon was J-Hope. Some were only able to recognize him based on his tattoo.
In another video, G-Dragon appeared to teach Tom Sachs how to dance. Still, even without all the accessories covering his features, netizens couldn’t help but recognize similarities between the two idols.
Netizens couldn’t get over how cute G-Dragon was in the video, but there were still many comments mentioning J-Hope. One even said they could be brothers, while some continued to mistake G-Dragon for J-Hope.
Interestingly enough, both G-Dragon and J-Hope actually attended a party hosted by Tom Sachs. So, they appeared in a group photo together!
The event was attended by many more A-List Korean celebrities, including Park Seo Joon, Choi Woo Sik, Ryu Jun Yeol, AOA‘s Seolhyun, Lee Chung Ha, and Jung Yu Mi.
