Netizens Wonder If WayV’s Lucas Will Return After SuperM’s Teaser Alludes To A Seven Member Comeback
SM Entertainment held a free year-end online concert, SMTOWN LIVE 2023: SMCU PALACE @ KWANGYA, for fans around the world to ring in the New Year with the company’s top stars.
The concert consisted of performances from Kangta, BoA, TVXQ, Super Junior, Girls’ Generation‘s Taeyeon and Hyoyeon, SHINee‘s Onew, Key, and Minho, EXO‘s Kai, D.O., Suho, Xiumin, Chanyeol, Sehun and Chen, Red Velvet, NCT U, NCT DREAM, NCT 127, WayV, aespa, GOT The Beat, and more.
The holiday concert featured unique stages as the SM Entertainment artists performed their own hits and new songs from their 2022 Winter SMTOWN : SMCU PALACE album.
Among the talented performances were many additional exciting moments. EXO performed live as a group for the first time in three years and GOT The Beat performed their new single “Stamp On It” ahead of its official release on Jan. 16.
During the concert, SM Entertainment also announced that the SM supergroup SuperM will be coming back with a simple image that said “SuperM will be coming in 2023.”
After the exciting announcement, a 25-second comeback teaser was uploaded to SuperM’s official YouTube channel, leaving more questions than answers about the group’s 2023 line-up.
SuperM debuted in 2019 as a seven-member group with members from four of SM Entertainment’s top male idol groups.
SHINee’s Taemin, EXO’s Baekhyun and Kai, NCT’s Taeyong and Mark, and WayV’s Ten and Lucas comprised SuperM, who was named the “Avengers of K-Pop.”
The comeback teaser video showed seven lasers rising from a mountain range, representing the group’s seven members.
Netizens quickly noticed that the different colors of the lasers seemed to be the representative colors of the members’ original groups. Netizens speculated that the green was for the NCT members, blue for Taemin, and white for EXO, which left fans wondering what the red represented. Some theorized that SM Entertainment might be adding a member of TVXQ, but as of now, no official statements have been made regarding the group’s lineup.

The appearance of seven lasers led many to hope that WayV’s Lucas would return after he officially went on hiatus in September 2021.

Since the beginning of Lucas’s hiatus, fans have been left in the dark about the future of his promotions with WayV, and the only updates have been through Lucas’s rare posts on his personal Instagram.
While some wondered if the red beam meant another SM Entertainment idol was going to be taking Lucas’s place, others found hope in previous SuperM promotions. In past SuperM music videos, the seven colors were also presented as beams.
So I can't believe I didn't think of this before but in Jopping we see the light beams that everyone is debating about in the MV

The official comeback schedule for SuperM’s comeback has yet to be announced, but it is expected to be after members Baekhyun and Taemin return from their mandatory military service. Baekhyun is set to be discharged on February 2, 2023, and Taemin on April 4, 2023.
