NewJeans‘ Danielle is set to star in the upcoming Disney movie The Little Mermaid after she was cast to dub the Korean version of the movie. Ahead of the premiere, Disney revealed details about the idol’s audition along with a new teaser.
Since debuting, Danielle has showcased her unreal talent on stage, wowing netizens with her unreal talent and soft voice that shines on stage.
For many fans, Danielle’s talent and purity in her voice meant they couldn’t hide their excitement when it was announced that the young idol would be doing the Korean dubbing for the upcoming live-action remake of Disney’s The Little Mermaid.
Yet, despite the criticisms from fans and the belief that HYBE’s influence got her the role, new information from Disney proves that Danielle worked and earned the role.
On May 12, Disney released a new teaser ahead of the movie’s release in Korea next week. Along with clips from the official movie, they also put in videos of Danielle singing. Unsurprisingly, with her styling and sweet vocals, the idol gave off the aura of a Disney princess.
If that wasn’t enough, multiple Korean news outlets shared statements from Disney about Danielle’s audition process.
According to reports, when Danielle arrived at Disney headquarters, she was given a singing and dialogue test that she wasn’t expecting and was only given the sheet music on her arrival.
While Danielle could’ve prepared for the audition and used her idol experience, the articles recognized how tough it would be for Danielle to be able to sing and speak in Korean in perfect timing to match the original speed of dialogue from Halle Bailey.
It was then shared that Danielle received positive responses from the officials after the audition.
With less than a week until the movie is released and the idol set to attend the premiere, Danielle has proved that she worked hard for the role and was the perfect pick.
