The girl group had previously pledged that the profit they earned from performing at university festivals this year would be donated to charity. That amount is equivalent to the average price of an apartment in Korea, according to the Korea Real Estate Board’s “National Housing Price Trends Survey” from April. The survey reported that the nationwide median price of an apartment was ₩321 million KRW (about $233,000 USD), with provincial areas seeing a lower average at about ₩250 million KRW (about $181,000 USD).

The amount donated by the girl group went toward supporting the living and housing expenses of low-income college students.

Meanwhile, ADOR’s CEO Min Hee Jin mentioned in a press conference on May 31 that the label had decided on NewJeans touring university festivals because the group needed a lot of practice performing on stage for their world tour next year. She said that the decision to donate all the earnings from these shows was aimed at showing that ADOR and NewJeans were not doing it for the money.
