On January 16, NewJeans’ Hyein recalled precious memories in a video with Dazed Korea.
In the video, she was asked to pick nine memorable moments from before her debut to now. After pulling the keyword “trainee,” she recalled meeting the members for the first time.
I was the last trainee to join, and I still remember my first impression of the members because I wondered how there could be such pretty and angelic people.

In terms of which member left the strongest impression, she chose Minji.
There comes a difficult time for trainees. Monthly evaluations usually consist of trainees performing what they prepared in front of many people. When there wasn’t much time left before the next evaluation, Minji unni sat in front of the computer in a spinning chair looking scary in a black hoodie. I even told her about it, and she said she might’ve looked scary because it was a stressful time. This left a really huge impact on me.

Another keyword she pulled was “people.”
“Looking back, I’ve realized there were so many amazing adults and good people around me. Especially now.
Also, our relationship with our Bunnies is so amazing. I want to see and talk with them often and become closer to them, but there are many reasons and times when I can’t. Regardless, I am amazed that they like us so much.”
