NewJeans’ Lightstick Goes Viral Amidst South Korea’s Presidential Impeachment Protests
Citizens of South Korean continue to protest the streets calling for President Yoon Suk Yeol‘s impeachment after he called for martial law on December 3, 2024 and lifted it all in the span of six hours.
K-Pop group lightsticks have been a staple in South Korean candlelight protests since 2016, and this time is no different — Various group’s lighsticks have been gaining attention for their place in the current protests, including NCT‘s iconic green hammer.

Most recently, a different lightstick has skyrocketed in popularity: NewJeans‘ adorable Binky Bong!
Protesters have been using the lighstick’s expressive face to convey different emotions and decorate it in various ways (including these cute sweatbands calling for the president’s impeachment).
With the lightstick’s unique shape, it can wear all kinds of accessories.
Additionally, unlike many others, there is a face which can showcase many expressions, depending on how it’s styled. With angry eyebrows, it becomes determined and ready to protest!
Due to its one-of-a-kind shape, it can easily be spotted in a crowd.
