The girl group joined a lineup filled with some of K-Pop’s biggest names to celebrate the achievements of the industry’s most successful acts in 2024. While the ceremony was initially planned for January 4 and 5, it was rescheduled to January 6 and 7 in light of South Korea’s national mourning period following the tragic Jeju Air crash, which claimed 179 lives.

Despite announcing they would part ways with ADOR back in November, NewJeans honored their commitments under the company by delivering a memorable performance.

Dressed in coordinated white outfits, the five members performed some of their most popular tracks, including “How Sweet,” “Supernatural,” and “Attention.” Their dedication did not go unnoticed, as they also received two awards: the Cosmopolitan Artist Award and Best Digital Song for their hit “How Sweet.”

However, it was the group’s unexpected gesture at the end of their performance that captured the audience’s attention. As they prepared to leave the stage, Minji (the group’s eldest member) called the girls together and they shared a heartfelt group hug.

Fans interpreted this moment as a symbolic gesture of the end of their journey with ADOR. Some have even taken it as a sign of celebration that the group is finally “free” from the label.

Even though some feel sad that NewJeans’ future outside of and after ADOR is yet unknown, many are excited to see where the group will be after surpassing these challenges.
