The Truth Behind NewJeans’ Viral Hanbok Photoshoot
The members of NewJeans gained attention for their VOGUE Korea cover for multiple reasons: Following the group’s contract termination with HYBE and ADOR, the magazine didn’t mention the name “NewJeans” and instead listed the individual names of the members.
Additionally, netizens praised the traditional Korean elements of the photoshoot as the members were wearing hanbok.
However, netizens were shocked to learn that the members were actually wearing regular clothes that were stylized to appear more like traditional Korean clothes and utilize elements from the hanbok.
The clothes worked so seamlessly into the “modern hanbok” look that it’s almost hard to tell that isn’t the original design!
As the shoot was directed by Min Hee Jin, netizens praised her creative direction and clever sense.
- “So beautiful.”
- “Wow, it was a mix-and-match! The sense is insane.”
