News of Girl’s Day Hyeri’s Generous Anonymous Donation Leaked
Hyeri attempted to give anonymously to relief efforts in Korea, but news of her donations has leaked out proving what an angel she really is.
On December 20th, it was revealed that Girl’s Day‘s Hyeri made a charitable donation of 50 million won ($41,902 USD) to the Hope Bridge relief efforts of the Seomun Market fire. The Daegu Seomun Market went up in flames on November 30th, and relief efforts have been attracting generous donations from some idols.
Hyeri donated the money under her real name Lee Hyeri and repeatedly asked Hope Bridge officials not to reveal her donation.
Hyeri’s manager and her agency, Dream Tea Entertainment, reportedly didn’t know about her donation and said, “We had no idea. It seems that she has been doing good deeds without telling others.”
Dream Tea Entertainment provided an educated guess at the reasoning behind her donation, saying: “When she was a child, there were a lot of difficult times for her family as she wasn’t very well off.”
Hyeri has been known for showing her charitable nature. Back in June, Hyeri lent her voice to a video project started by the Ministry of National Defense Agency for KIA (Killed in Action) Recovery and Identification. Hyeri also previously tried to keep her Lunar New Year donation a secret, but news of that leaked out as well.
What a kind soul.
Other celebrities who have donated to the Seomun Market relief efforts are Yoo Jae Suk, Park Shin Hye, and PSY.
