“New Member?” Netizens React To A Viral Theory Regarding NMIXX’s Comeback Concept Photos
Since debuting in 2022, NMIXX has become a hot topic in the world of K-Pop. Yet, it’s not always been easy for the group after member Jinni left unexpectedly at the end of 2022.
Yet, netizens have mixed reactions after videos from fans about the group possibly teasing a new member have become a hot topic online. During the past few weeks, NMIXX has been teasing their comeback, and netizens have noticed some odd things within the teasers, with many thinking it could link to a new member.
One of the first photos gained attention after netizens noticed there was a rogue hand in the corner of the photo.
While the first photo was seemingly just put down to the hand of a staff member being missed out during editing, the next raised more theories.
In the mythical concept photo, there was a mirror with a reflection. Nobody was standing in front of the mirror to be the reflection directly, but many thought it was Haewon. Although the arm placement seemed different, many thought it was just another editing issue.
Yet, even with the explanations for the hand and the belief that the reflection is just awkward editing of member Haewon, the most recent concept photo released on June 3 had fans even more suspicious.
In the poster, eagle-eyed netizens noticed that one of the posters behind Sullyoon read “New member recruitment notice.”
It raised so many theories because the poster seen in the teaser has a date that reflects a JYP Entertainment audition. The date reads July 3, and many noticed that it was the exact same date for an audition posted on JYP’s Instagram with the title “New Wave,” that seemingly links into the group’s concept.
While the auditions are in August, the deadline for the online applications also said July 3.

Yet, while it’s all speculation and could be a coincidence, many have voiced their anger or concerns on social media that another member or even teasing one isn’t right. Jinni only left at the end of 2022, and the idea that there might be another member is something they don’t want to imagine.

While it all could just be a coincidence, it’s not surprising that fans are worried because although it isn’t common, JYP Entertainment added a member to a group when one leaves, with the example of when HyunA left Wonder Girls, and Yubin joined.
