Where Is He Now? The “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” Actor Who Disappeared During The Peak Of His Popularity
Last summer, ENA‘s Extraordinary Attorney Woo was one of the hottest K-Dramas of the season, and actor Kang Tae Oh captured everyone’s hearts with his role as the dreamy Lee Joon Ho.
Although Kang Tae Oh debuted in 2013, it wasn’t until Extraordinary Attorney Woo that he rose to international fame. Therefore, it shocked the public when the actor joined the military in September 2022, a month after the K-Drama ended and at the peak of his popularity. On September 19 last year, he posted a picture of himself with his freshly cut short hair and told his fans, “See you soon.”
One month after he enlisted, pictures of Kang Tae Oh in the military circulated among online communities. Fans not only noticed his handsomeness but the badge on his uniform showing that he had become a company commander.
Eight months later, on May 26, Kang Tae Oh updated his fans with a picture of himself. With no caption, the picture showed him with short hair, looking down at his phone, and wearing a trendy denim-on-denim outfit. It appeared that he was out on vacation when he took this picture.
This was his first social media post since last September, and the comment section was filled with enthusiastic and supportive comments like “I miss you” and “So happy to see you.”
Kang Tae Oh’s role in Extraordinary Attorney Woo was the main character Woo Young Woo (played by actress Park Eun Bin)’s love interest, known for his gentle and dreamy personality. His popularity soared through the show and he became busy, doing photoshoots for magazines, modeling for products, and filming commercials—such as this one for Subway sandwiches.
Meanwhile, Kang Tae Oh is serving 18 months in the military and, therefore, is scheduled to be discharged in March 2024.
