Olympics Related Porn Searches Increased by 561% Around The World
It seems like the world isn’t just interested in watching the sport at the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics – it’s also excited by the athletes, with porn searches containing the word “Olympic” and “Olympics” increasing by 561%.
According to Pornhub Analytics, so many viewers searched for “Nude Olympics” between 9-14 February that it increased the average by more than 1801%, and interest in the Olympic “bulge” rose by over 239%.
Figure skating got the most people going, with a 622% gain in search topics, followed by skiing (+424%) and hockey (+245%).
People around the world are also more interested in Korean porn now too, with “Korea” or “Korean” search increasing by 112%, but worldwide searches for Russia/Russian also grew by 78% and China/Chinese by 67%.
Although porn websites are officially banned in Korea, Pornhub still gets regular visitors from the Gangwon-do region, and with the number of people converging on the region, traffic was 70% higher than normal.
The levels climaxed on 12 February.
A lot of those visitors were men over 65, with an 80% increase in older traffic, but there was also a 25% jump in female visitors in the region.
Pornhub found that the “Threesome” category increased the most by 35% in popularity and the “Lesbian” category rose by 34%, possibly because of all the team sports.
