Once Again, BTS Practically Owns The Billboard World Albums Chart This Week
The Billboard World Albums chart is a weekly chart of the world’s best-selling albums in the United States, based on the total accumulated sales of the albums listed. Perhaps unsurprisingly, K-Pop often fills up a majority of the 15 spots on the list each week, and this week is no exception! Not only is K-Pop taking up 12 of the total spots, but BTS has 2/3 of those spots, making them the undisputed leaders of the Billboard World Albums chart this week. This really isn’t anything new, but with their new Japanese album just released, it’s great to see how high it’s trending! Here is the total list.
15. You Never Walk Alone by BTS
This album came out on February 14, 2017, so it’s impressive that it still makes it onto this list! It has spent a total of 76 weeks on the chart since its debut, and it peaked at #1 at some points. It didn’t make the chart last week, but it managed to squeak back on this week.
14. The Lion King: The Gift by Beyoncé and Various Artists
This album came out on July 19, 2019. It has been on the chart several times, for 36 total weeks, and did place at #1 closer to its release date!
13. Love Yourself: Her by BTS
The next BTS album to make it onto the World Albums chart, Love Yourself: Her was released on September 18, 2017, so it’s also impressive that it still frequently ranks on the chart! It has also peaked at #1 closer to its release date, and has been on the chart for 88 weeks total, placing at the #11 spot last week.
12. SuperM: The 1st Mini Album by SuperM
SuperM’s first mini album has been on the chart numerous times since its October 4, 2019 release, for a total of 40 weeks on the chart. It was also at #12 last week, but has ranked at #1 in the past!
11. BTS World by BTS
This album, created for the mobile game of the same name, came out on June 28, 2019 and has been steadily listed on the World Albums chart since then. It has spent a total of 49 weeks on the chart, ranking at #1 at some point, and has jumped up from its #14 position last week.
10. Somewhere Over The Rainbow: IZ: The Best Of Israel Kamakawiwo’Ole by Israel Kamakawiwo’Ole
This iconic soundtrack, which came out, incredibly, on July 12, 2011, is the oldest album to make this list. It’s spent 10 weeks on the chart so far, and has peaked at the #6 position. It also jumped up from its #13 position last week.
9. The Gereg by The Hu
The Gereg by The Hu, a Mongolian heavy metal band, came out on September 13, 2019, and has spent a total of 30 weeks on the chart since then. It has peaked at #1, but dropped this week from the #7 position it held last week.
8. Love Yourself: Tear by BTS
Yet another BTS album on the list! Love Yourself: Tear came out on May 18, 2018, and has spent an incredible total of 102 weeks on this list. Of course, it has peaked at #1 in the past, and this week rose from its #9 position last week.
7. Kill This Love by BLACKPINK
It shouldn’t be too surprising that BLACKPINK has made this chart many times, with Kill This Love spending its 38th week on the list. It made the #1 position at some point in the past, and rose significantly this week from its #10 placement last week.
6. Go Live by Stray Kids
Stray Kids’ latest album has done remarkably well! This album came out recently on June 17 of this year, and made the #4 placement at its peak. It’s spent a total of 6 weeks on the chart, and rose this week from its #8 position last week.
5. Map of the Soul: Persona by BTS
Of course Map of the Soul: Persona also made it onto the chart, as it has been for a long time since it came out on April 12, 2019. It has spent a total of 67 weeks on the chart now, having peaked at #1 in the past and jumping up from its #6 position last week.
4. Map of the Soul: 7 ~The Journey~ by BTS
BTS’s newest addition to the World Albums ranking, Map of the Soul: 7 ~The Journey~ has surprisingly not made the #1 position yet, but debuted at #2 last week, defeated by BTS’s own Map of the Soul: 7. This week, its 2nd spent on the chart, saw it drop down from #2 to #4, though there’s still a high chance it could rank higher soon.
3. Neo Zone, the 2nd Album by NCT 127
NCT 127 has ranked consistently on the World Albums chart since this album dropped on March 6 of this year, rising up this week from its #4 placement last week. It has spent 20 weeks on the chart in total, peaking at #1 around the time when it first came out.
2. Love Yourself: Answer by BTS
Perhaps surprisingly, this older BTS album jumped from #3 to #2 this week, despite it coming out all the way back on August 24, 2018. It’s been on the chart for now 100 weeks total, which is an incredible feat! It also peaked at #1 in the past.
1. Map of the Soul: 7 by BTS
Of course, Map of the Soul: 7 just can’t be beat, keeping its #1 placement that it also held last week. Since it came out on February 21 of this year, it has not dropped off of the list at all in 22 weeks, and in fact has ranked at least within the top 3 for pretty much its entire time.
