One Of f(x)’s Tracks Was Supposed To Be For Ariana Grande’s Debut Album
Ariana Grande revealed a studio version of a song from her debut album that didn’t make it to the final tracklist.
She shared the recorded song, titled “Boyfriend Material”, with her fans as a thank you for their constant support.
“A little surprise for my loves as a thank you for all of your constant love, support and dedication. I know how much y’all love this song and how disappointed you were when it didn’t make it on to my first album so I knew I had to get it to you somehow someday.” — Ariana Grande
She also expressed that the song was very special to her as it was one of the first songs she worked on.
“This song means a lot to me and holds such a special place in my heart as it was one of the first songs I did when I started working on ‘yours truly’ when I was like 17 ….. don’t worry… you’ll get more of these oldies too as time goes on! I’m working on it for you. love you all so much. you are everything. love you.” ㅡ Ariana Grande
The song, however, may sound familiar to those who have followed K-Pop for a while, the reason being that a Korean version of the song was sung by f(x) for their “Pink Tape” album!
f(x) had apparently purchased the song after Ariana Grande scrapped the song from her final tracklist.
f(x)’s version of the song was titled “No More”, but the structure, melody and sound was exactly the same as Ariana Grande’s “Boyfriend Material”.
While “Boyfriend Material” is about finding the perfect boyfriend, however, “No More” is about a girl who is ready to give up even a girlfriend when a new guy comes along.
